Triumph Repair: 1973 Triumph 1500, triumph spitfire, triumph 1500

Question
I've been trying to solve a problem on my Triumph Spitfire, but can't seem to locate it.  I can't get the car started without using starting fluid.  I've had the gas tank and the gas replaced, the fuel filter replaced, cleaned the fuel pump, new ignition coil, plugs, dist. cap, and wires.  Had the carb. rebuilt as well.  Once the car is started, it usually will run for 15 to 20 minutes and then die.  Have to wait until it will start again...I'm thinkg it's either flooding or overheating.  Any thoughts as to why it won't start and why it dies.

Thanks,

Jay

Answer
Jay,

Did you clean the fuel lines?  Install a filter up near the carb?

Did you check the vacuum line from the carb to the distributor?

Did you clean and oil the distributor advance counterweights?

Check the timing?  Choke action?

Just a few more areas to explore.

Cheers,

Jim
