UK Car Repair: car engine problem..., opel astra, inlet valve

Dear Sir,

best of the greetings from india, sir i am owning the Opel astra 1.6 LX 1997 model manual transmission car, now days my car has started troubling me by 1.(not taking load on third gear as it use to take before)2. on parking mode if we star the engine after few seconds engine starts wobbling and some petrol smell comes like somewhere in engine petrol overflow is accruing.
sir i love my car, i will be oblige if you can give me some useful tip to get it repair.

Sticking inlet valve.

If you can take the rocker cover off the engine, run the engine (you'll get a light splattering of oil doing this, but just a little) and watch the operation of the valves when it is wobbling you'll know for sure if it is the valves - one or two will be either sticking open or closing too slowly.


I'm 99% sure its a sticking intake valve = maybe gummed up valve stem or broken valve spring causing it, or the valve itself is bent.
