UK Car Repair: Vauxhall Corsa - Constant tapping sound, vauxhall corsa, waterpump

Question
My Vauxhall Corsa is making a constant tapping sound when the engine is running and it seems to be getting louder. Its an 53 plate and up until 8 months ago i hardly did any miles, but due to work i now have to travel a minimum of 50 miles a day. Also the water for the radiators seems to dry up pretty quickly, i have to top it up every couple of weeks. I've had the oil changed but its still making the tapping sound. Any suggestions?

Answer
Is the water pump worn out + possibly leaking from its bearings?

Do you know exactly where the tapping comes from?

Can you try taking off the fanbelt and running the engine for a few seconds to see if the sound goes away, that would point directly to the waterpump for your noise and loss of water.
