UK Car Repair: 1973 Silver Shadow Rolls Royce, dashboard lights, direction indicators

Question
The hazard lights all work when the button is pushed, all flash nicely. Left and right directional lights will not flash when lever is moved, yet, the flash indicator on the speedometer flashes, both left and right. Help please. thankyou, yours truly, Andrew

Answer
I've checked both diagrams and they are fairly similar around the Direction indicators and hazard warning switches.

The direction indicator has 2 sides to it, one side runs the actual indicators, and the other side runs the dashboard indicator indicators.  :) - the two switches are mechanically connected and operate at the same time, though the circuits for dashboard indication and actual indicators are electrically separate from each other.

I would check the operation of this switch.  Seeing as the dashboard lights are around 2 watts each and the indicators per-side are 30-40 watts it is reasonable to expect the higher power side of the switch to wear out first.

Since the Hazard warning works without issue there is no chance of a grounding issue, short or otherwise - this is certainly down to the indicator switch.

With certainty - replacing the whole indicator switch will cure this problem.
