UK Car Repair: CLUTCH KIT, clutch kit, metal fatigue

Question
I have a Citroen Berlingo, diesel, year 2008, with 90,000 kms.  Yesterday, the clutch kit gave out, the clutch got stuck and made an awful noise.  The shop said the clutch kit had to be replaced, but my question is:  Is it normal for the clutch kit to go bad after only 90,000 kms???  I thought this kit on this car should last at least until 140,000 kms.  Could it be perhaps bad driving?  I use this car for my business, which is a bakery and the car is assigned to one driver only.  Thank you very much.

Answer
sounds like part of the mechanism has succumbed to normal wear or metal fatigue, for this sort of failure It's rarely down to the way it is driven, though lots of clutch operations will cause fatigue or release mechanism failure of some sort to happen sooner, so lots of start-stop driving can cause it to happen "early", though I have seen failures like this at as low as 23k - it's not down to your driver just a normal failure.
