UK Car Repair: 03 1.7D combo steering rack, track rod ends, steering rack

Question
Do i have to drop the rear engine sub frame bolts to get enough room to remove rack+fixing bolts or am i going about it the wrong way

I remember vauxhall racks come out the top easier, take off both track rod ends from the tracking arm, then unbolt the rack itself, you should be able to push one end of the rack past the track rod end past it's mounting to the  then have enough room to take the whole rack out - not worjked on this van so give me a photo of the rack in situ and i'll figure it out, I dont have the manual...
A lot of photos of it, both track ends, the mounting bolts the lot.
