UK Car Repair: Renault Megane Heater Plugs, renault megane, diagnostic tool

Question
My new car is a 2001 (Y) Renault Megane 1.9 dTi expression, but I imagine its a fairly simple question to answer. The heater plugs light is coming on, and I rang to book my car back in to sort it but they couldnt book it in for a week. They told me that my car would be perfectly fine being driven around if there are no other symptoms, which there are not, the driving of the car is not affected at all. Is this accurate? I want to be sure Im not causing any long term damage to it by driving it, as I have to drive a fair distance at weekends.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
hi
the heater plug light is used as the engine management light and the only way to know what is wrong is to use a special diagnostic tool to interogate the control unit.
The fault could be a number of things and will probably be OK if there are no other symptoms, but.......always think what if?
What if there is a fault that will cause damage?....will they pay for it as they said it will be all right without even checking?I would take it somewhere else and get it checked, just to be sure.
Regards.
