UK Car Repair: Renault Master 2.2 DCI - engine stalling, renault master, high pressure pump

Question
QUESTION: The van stalls shortly after starting. It will drive for a few metres before dying out. This only occurs in the mornings or where it has been parked all day. It is reluctant to start after stalling and I have to clutch start it while the van is still in motion. I have had an injectors, high pressure pump & heater plugs replaced but it hasn't solved the problem. Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Does it start every time when you push start it? How many K's has it done and, when did this start.

QUESTION: If I am unable to start it with the clutch, it will start with a tow and once it gets going, it is fine. The problem is unpredictable but getting more common.
There is 93000 miles on clock.

Answer
It is odd, if the bores were worn badly it would'nt normally start easy when cold, As it does start when pulled, and then runs ok is interesting.  It could be that when cold the heater plugs are making the difference, perhaps the engine isn't going fast enough to create sufficient compression!  Try this, remove the heater plugs and squirt some engine oil in each cylinder, put them back and try starting it.
