UK Car Repair: engine cuts out, lint free cloth, vauxhall dealer

Question
QUESTION: Voxhall astra ls  1994 1.4 M reg petrol green/blue
When slowing down or stationary the engine will cut out all the light flash up on the dash bored I can normally get it going again after about 5 goes, sometimes it does a 2 times in one wk or wont for a month, and also it jerks driving along sometimes it very unpredictable, been hooked up 2 machine but that told nothing , had some new bits in coil leads and plugs distributor, do have another electirc black box to try also, or could it be something to do with the fuel, thanks for your time.

ANSWER: Did the car go to a vauxhall dealer, unfortunately they are the only ones with the software to scan this cars codes, a normal garage can do nothing, it will not show up any codes on a "foreign" scanner, it's about £50 for a scan there but it's more expensive to blindly change parts. So get a scan done at vauxhall, unless £50 is far too much. Without the code it's a pretty difficult task, but it's possible.

However if you had the original scan at a proper vauxhall dealer, I can still help.

That said this fault does sound like a dirty Idle Air Control Valve - so I'd clean that before spending any money, get hold of a few quality pipe cleaners (auto shops should have something, get a can of carburettor cleaner too) and also a toothbrush + lint free cloth for the job. the idle air valve is a small airway in the throttle body, when it is clogged the car can conk out when you let go of the accelerator and be a bit hard to get going again, does that sound like the problem?

I'll post some pics of how to clean this later... long day.
There some other parts to degrease, dry and polish . I think this will make the car run fine again, but i'm dog tired,

QUESTION: It is a second hand single point ejection complete unit that has been fitted, to much of a coincidence that it is causing the same fault still, I have not taken it to voxhall yet as of the price, any more advice you can give before I have to give in and cough up 2 Voxhall????
Thanks again for your time.

Answer
is this your car?
VAUXHALL

Astra Mk3 (1991->1999) 1.4 Petrol, 16 Valves, 90 BHP

I'm thinking ignition control module. about £15...
Ignition module doesn't always show up on diagnostics.

then the symptoms are also like camshaft position sensor... but that does show up.
