UK Car Repair: Kia idling problem, intake pipe, problem thanks

Hi Bill. I hope you can help. I know you're not a Kia person, but I didn't know who else to turn to.
My daughter has a 2002 Kia Ultima with 67k miles. She has never had any problem until this has happened.
In nutral, the car will idle up and down. She told me the car would hardly run. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on this problem. Maybe other makes might have had the same problem.

the first thing to do is make sure the throttle body or what used to be the carb is nice and clean.
Remove the air intake pipe and thouroughly clean the throttle flap and surrounding area with an aerosol carb cleaner and an old tooth brush.
Refit and start engine, it might run a bit rough for a minute untill the cleaner has burnt off.
