Volkswagen Repair: 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle, clutch, labor

My daughter has a turbo New Beetle, with a a bad clutch.  Could you give me a ballpark figure on the costs to fix it?  Thanks!

About $600 parts/labor is the bare minimum at an independent shop, to around $1000-1500 at a dealer.  The parts alone are $300-$500, once again depending on who's marking it up.  It's about a 5 hour job for an experienced shop, basically the car will be there all day.  You should be able to shop around, clutch repair is not nearly as complex as actual transmission repair.  Check out this thread:
