Volkswagen Repair: vw clutch, pressure plates, flywheel

Question
i rebuilt a 1600 cc to put in a baja for my dad.it was a little sticky going in however, its in an seems to run well. at first the clutch was non existant (prior to turning over the new motor) i decided to turn it over hoping that what ever was misaligned would pop in. it appeared to work but then very hard to push in. adjusted many times and basicallythe clutch slips all the time  69 bug baja

Answer
Jay,
Way to go on the motor rebuild! It's hitting on all four and oil's not running out of it...should be ready to roll! There's something majorly wrong with that clutch problem though! Is the trans the original '69 or a '71 and later, with the collar that the throwout bearing slides on? I'm sure you know that you need to use the proper pressure plates with each trans...up to '70, the plate with a collar on the fingers and '71 and later, no collar. I hate to say it but I'd pull the motor back out and see what's going on before your flywheel is junk (from slipping). Get back to me and we'll figure it out! I have lots of Bug parts that I need to sell, if you need anything.
