Volkswagen Repair: Hi Paul: My car is 92 vw..., vw jetta, fuel lines

Question
Hi Paul:
My car is 92 vw Jetta GL, AT, Fuel injection.  I can't start the engine.  I have checked the spark plugs and wires, they are should be OK.  But I don't know to check for fuel.  I couldn't see fuel lines under the hood, I only saw four fuel injectors' connections hehind the cylinders/engine block.  Any help would be great.  Thank you.

Answer
Pete,

You can check for fuel at the fuel lines on the right side of the engine.  There are two black hoses, with blue arrows, indicating the direction of flow.

Before you look for these, crank the engine for a second, and listen for the sound of the fuel pump, from the back of the car.

Don't pull out the injectors, unless you've done it before, it's not as easy as it looks.

What the heck, I've been telling everyone this, why should you be any different... remove and drain the fuel filter into a jar and see if the fuel is clean! This sounds pretty simplistic, but I've realized that most people forget to change their fuel filter with a tune-up.

Good Luck,

Paul
