Volvo Repair: Volvo XC90 ABS? BCM?, volvo xc90, trip odometer

Question
On 11/8/2207 a Kathy asked a question about a 2004 S80 AWD.  I wonder what the final out come was.

I'm having weird problems with and XC90.  The dealer says it's the ABS module and I note you say they have a high failure rate but others are saying that post 2001 they have heard of no ABS Module failures.

I get Brake Failure Stop Safely, trip odometer at dashes, NO ABS or AWD then 3 minutes later it works again and the Ckeck Engine warning comes on and AWD and ABS work.  Cruise may not work but if I stop and restart cruise works.

Codes and checks are

I have one person saying it's not the ABS but the BCM so now I don't know what it is and the deale will replace everything he can make a buck on and I could be replacing stuff that is just his guess and there's nothing wrong with it until he stumbles across what is actually wrong.

Answer
David, this is simple. Ask them to gaurentee their repairs. Replace one part and retest. If that fixes it, I will pay you. If it doesn't,  take out the wrong part and try again. The odds you have two bad modules are astronomical unless the car was hit by lightning or a power line fell on it. If they won't gaurentee their work, what are you doing there?

I would be looking at relays and power distribution first since the fuses are good. Very very unusual for a module to go intermittent. More likely a pin or a connector or a common ground point. If it was flat out failed I could believe it.
