Volvo Repair: Volvo Sunroof Assembly, sunroof assembly, thin rubber

Question
Hi!

A couple days ago, I was opening the sunroof on my 2001 V40 and a long, black-metal spar, about 3-ft. in length fell out of the sunroof assembly.  My problem is, I cannot figure out where the heck the dang thing is supposed to fit back in (I didn't see exactly where in the assembly it fell out of).  The spar has a slight curve which seems to match the curve on the forward edge of the sunroof opening.  Also, one side of the spar has a flange that is covered in what appears to be some sort of glue or epoxy, with 5 thin, rubber pads of about 1/2" x 3/4" in interspersed along its length.

Any idea of exactly where and how I can fit this back into the sunroof assembly?

Answer
Joe, is it possible you are looking at the pop up wind deflector that sits under the front edge of the sunroof when it's closed? It is supposed to be attached to the car side of the vehicle and not the sliding roof itself. When you close the roof, it folds dwon out of the way. When you open the roof, arms with little springs pull it up to deflect the wind up over the sunroof. It's more to prevent noise than anything else. It does help in a light rain at 70 though.VBG
