Volvo Repair: Volvo 98 S70 Strut Mounts, hairline cracks, strut mounts

Question
I am purchasing a 98' S70 for my daughter going away to college.  It has approx. 124k miles on it.  My mechanic said that the 'upper strut mounts' were cracked.  Another mechanic said that they did a "twist test" and no problem appeared.  How serious are these?  Is it a major safety issue?  If they are showing hairline cracks at this time, how soon do you think they'll need to be repaired?

Answer
wait until it brakes there is no safety problem if is not broken  if is cracked is fine it will do the job until it brakes after it brakes replace both sides in front left and right  use only original Volvo  parts  those are called spring seats .remember for any repair use original Volvo parts only
