I just replaced the Idle control valve because of the idle sticking too high. It wuld rev way high and stay there. If you tapped on it the idle would drop for a while but then go up agian after excelaration. The new valve is doing the same thing. Is there anything else besides that black knob you can turn.. which does not seem to do much... that controls the idle?  it's seems as thought you can pull vacumme hoses while it is running and it does not seem to change much as far as it the idle either.. getting very frustrated. If you could shed any lite on this it would be greatly appreaciated. thanks tim

Tim, would help me if you told me what model you have.  I cant guess.  Roger

Answer
Tim, Remove the throtle body completely and clean it with carb clean.  You will have to reset the switch after cleaning.  loosen the 8mm nut and back the screw out until plate it flush.  Now turn screw until it hits the lever.  turn one a 1/4 turns until you can see a little light at the bottom.  Loosen screws on switch and adjust until it clicks.  Hold switch while tightening screws.  Back black know out until its almost out of hole.  start car and adjust black knob. Try that first and we can go further.  Roger
