Volvo Repair: 2000 S80 headlamp lenz replacement, headlamp assembly, extra 200

Question
A rock broke the passenger side headlamp lenz.  I bought a replacement lenz, but how do I replace it.  It almost looks like I have to remove the whole bumper cover to access the remove the headlamp assembly, which seems like outrageously poor engineering.

Answer
Well you do have to remove the bumper.  At least loosen the one side.  Remove the rivets in the wheel well, undo the bolts on the bottom, and the bolts in the front (under the plastic trim, it just unclips).  Then you should have access to remove the lens.  We charge about 2 hours per side to replace it, so you could always dish out an extra 200 to have the dealer do it.  It seems like alot but without the proper tools to get it out it can be a real headache, so if you're up for a challenge and are mechanically inclined by all means go for it.  Its not real hard just akward to get it out.  It helps to have small hands and wrists.
