Volvo Repair: 1989 volvo 240 gear shift, 1989 volvo 240, volvo 240

The linkage between the shift knob, and the actual gear shifter on my volvo has come lose from the shift knob, I'm pretty sure I can fix it myself but I was wondering what part I needed and how to install it

Hello Skyler,
          I'm going to make a few assumptions...Your descriptions are vague...
          If the shiffter has failed in its relationship to the "cage"/support system...Volvo sells a repair kit that includes nylon and other bushinge used to make shifting easy...be sure to check the bushings that hold the "cage" to the body of the trans..they wear also..
           If the problem is within the gearshift assembly...back into the job slowly...I think their is a pin that must be removed...to get the actual workings.....OR...go to junk yard...find a good used one there and save your time to doing other stuff..
