Volvo Repair: 1986 240 DL Wiring to turn signal dry rotted, volvo 240 dl, engine wiring harness

Question
I have a 1986 Volvo 240 DL Sedan. The passenger side turn and brake light, instrument panel, and front turn signal quit working. Upon inspecting the wiring to the front turn signal, the wiring is dry rotted. There is wiring to a blue plug type receptical, and what appears to be capacitor that is completely bare; there are many wires in this location that are cracked; and bare as well. Is there a wiring harness for this; and can it be installed by a person that is not a mechanic?

Answer
   Hello Tom,

Sorry to tell you this but...86 240's had wiring problems...got to replace the harness with a good one...you might be able to do the job yourself if you write down any information that you might leave to memory.
I have repaired many of these problems and you might want to look closely at the engine wiring harness behind the engine as it connects to the harness from the body .

              Good luck,
