BMW: Ignition problem, bmw dealer, diesel car

Question
Thank u a lot for your response.
U were right my bmw dealer must have done sth such with their BMW diagnostic  machines. My dealer told me that My car is repaired now but they have kept it for further test.
Can u plz be more explicit with "The only way I know is to cycle the key 10,000 times until the rolling code has exhausted all possibilities."
I want to have an idea about this in case of future problems.
Thanks again.

Car details:
BMW320diesel
year 02
mileage abt 62000miles

Sir,
I cant start my car and I have only a unique key. My BMW dealer has ordered a key from germany but I've been told it will take some 6 wks to reach Mauritius. I can use the remote of my key to open the car and turn on accessories but i cant start the car. I can also switch on radio, blow the horn etc but cant turn the engine. Wat i have been told from my BMW dealer is that there's a chip programmed in the key. An approved bmw electrician has checked the starter and he was able to only turn the engine for a few seconds by bypassing the fuss. But problem he told me fuel wont go in the engine because there might be a problem with the key.

Can you plz give me a solution to my problem and whether it is a key problem.

Thank you for providing your help

Richi,
I am sorry to say that I have never seen a BMW diesel in the states-ever. If it is an 02' E46 then it still likely has the EWS (immobiliser) as the gas cars. If the ESW and DME (a diesel car would have DDE rather than DME) loose their calibration it will need to be reset with BMW diagnostic  machines. I am not aware of a way to do this without factory service tools. The only way I know is to cycle the key 10,000 times until the rolling code has exhausted all possibilities.
Sorry I cannot be of more assistance to you.

Answer
I am sorry but you are asking  for too much. There is a code in the key and a code in the engine. Normally they roll together every time they are used so the security code for the car has 10000 possibilities. When the battery gets a low voltage, or just a momentary glitch they loose syncrozation and the 2 cades don't match, the car will not start.
