BMW: No power in BMW 325is, 1993 bmw 325is, bmw 325is

Question
I own a 1993 BMW 325is, a few weeks after a purchased it from a previous owner, when I would start the car sometimes and put it into drive a would feel almost like something was dropping where my transmission is. When this happens and I put the car into drive, I almost have to floor it everytime from a stopped position to accelerate the least bit. It feels as if I'm getting no power at all, and it is very hard to excellerate from a stopped position. To fix this problem I have already changed the fuel pump, replaced all of the spark plugs, and replaced the broken piece between the drive shaft and the transmission. It still have the same problem, and the only thing I've noticed that is consistant is that it occurs at night time or in the morning when it is cooler outside. What else can I do?

Answer
Alex,
Your catylitic converter is just slightly behind the transmission. If it is clogged it breaks apart inside and clunks like a transmission mount is bad. It restricts exhaust gas which makes the engine perform very poorly. This may be the noise and feel. Also check the transmission mounts as they might be broken. Without driving the car it would be hard for me to say but check those few things and report back. If all else fails pull the ECU out of the firewall box and check it for moisture. They have been known to take a swim in the rain and cause wierd problems. Good luck.
