BMW: 325is 95 Electrical, brown wires, electrical problem

Question
I know you specialize in e30 models, however, I also know that
you must know tons more about BMWs than I.  Anyway, there
have been a few things that alert me that it is an electrical
problem.
1.)  My cluster lights do not work
2.)  Cluster gauges work on and off ( when i hit a bum they
work or don’t work)
3.)  Tail light periodically stops working (even after replacing)
4.)  Sometimes when turn the key in the ignition it doesn’t
work after the first, second or even third time.

Some have told me that it could be a ground but I honestly don’t
have any idea where it could be.

Thanks

Answer
Larson,
It's definately an electrical problem.  Finding it is going to be the fun part.  I would agree that it sounds like a ground.  Look under the dash, and locate any grounds (BMW uses Brown wires for ground).  You should see some wires bolted to the metal frame, and not plugging into anything.  Unbolt them and clean the area around the connection then reattach it.
It's going to be a pain, but if you want it to work correctly, you are going to have to roll up your sleeves and get in there.

 Hope this helps,
 Josh
