Hi Taylor, I am having trouble with my 1995 buick parkave. The climate control is flashing and it blows cold air on the passenger side and hot on the driver side. When you put it on defrost it only blows cold air.I was told the flashing means a problem exists. How do I get the code out to repair it. thank you Al.

Al, I've heard this question like 50 times in the last week, and I believe it to be a reset to the system is needed. I'll need to get the instructions from work and let you know. If the reset doesn't work, we'll need to truoble shoot and get the correct answer.

Come back on the site and send another message in saying you got this and answer one question: What do you mean it is flashing...the whole screen flashes or just certain numbers? Does it show the ext. temp and if so is it correct? These questions will help in the answer I look for.

Thanks

TAYLOR, THE EXT. TEMP FLASHES WHEN THE SYSTEM IS OFF. WHEN YOU TURN THE SYSTEM ON, THE INTERIOR TEMP FLASHES, THEN IT STOPS FLASHING WHEN THE ENGINE IS UP TO TEMP. THATS WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS COLD AIR AND THE DRIVER SIDE VLOWS WARM AIR.I RAISED THE PASSENGER CONTROL TO HIGH HEAT AND IT STILLS BLOWS COLD AIR.WHEN YOU PUT THE DEFROSTER ON IT ALSO BLOWS COLD AIR EVEN WITH THE TEMP ON 90. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Answer
I've found the answer Al

The computer module located behind the glove box is where the information is processed and delivered to the unit that is on the dash. This midule can become worn out and deliver the wrong information after so many hours of use. That may answer the question of why the temperatures are shown wrong

however...

the reason you are not getting the right temperatures to the right spots is due to a malfuntioning mode selector motor. This is the device that changes where the air actually blows and the temperature of the air blown. When this device wears out, the temperature and the direction become haphazzard and unreliable. It is the small motor on this device (which is located just under the dash) which will need to be replaced. They can't be repaired. It is an inexpensive repair and you may be able to do it yourself.
