Question -
hi,
i have a 94 sedan deville and about 1 month ago while i was driving the air bag and anti lock brake lights began to flash and the message board read "battery voltz high" the cars performance was bothered while this was happening. then it would go away and sometimes come back after a couple miles and other times it wouldnt come back on for a week or so. i had the altenator and battery tested 2weeks ago and they were ok, but the wire harness for the regulator was dried up so i replaced it last week and then had the altenator & batt tested and the altenator was found to be no good. so 2 days ago i replaced the altenator with a new on and drove it for a day with no problem and then today while i was driving the message came back up again. what do you think the problem could be? please help me.

Perform this procedure:

!. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until the complete display illuminates and release the 2 buttons.

3. Write down any LETTER/NUMBER combinations that appear in the EXACT order in which they appear.

4. Turn OFF ignition.

Let me know what LETTER/NUMBER combinations you got.

Go drive the car and see if any of the codes reappear and let me know what they are.

By the codes that displayed it is obvious that you have an intermittent problem with the battery and or the alternator.

Answer -
The only other component that can cause this is a faulty PCM of which you should have a scanner to test it.

Answer -
I would not do it. You need to get a scanner to read the data stream to and from your PCM. If there is an intermittent fault in the alt or an intermittent problem with the battery, You will destroy this replacement PCM.

Answer
You can either have your Cadillace dealer look at it with there scanner or buy one like mine for $600.00.

Once you learn how to read and interpret the scanners findings a diagnosis is not to difficult.

If you were close to NM it would take about 10 minutes to find the problem.

Let me know what you find out.
