Car Stereos: Replacing custom installed Volkwagen Jetta 1.8T Speakers, volkswagen jetta, jetta 1

Question
QUESTION: Hey.
I just found out a few days ago that the rear right speaker of my Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T wasn't working so i decided to remove it (Myself) so it could be replaced, but upon doing that i realized the whole speaker was mounted (attached to the door)in a way that i feel like only an expert would be able to have it taken out. My question is should i just take it to an expert or do you think i can remove it myself and if so how and would i be able to buy that same speaker, since most speakers as i recently found out do come only in or as sets of either two or four. I'd also like to know where such type of speakers can be bought.
Please help.
Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Denis.

could you tell me the year model on your car please, this so i can give you the proper speaker size that you need. and as far as removing the speaker if you dont feel comfortable taken it out dont even try it, i guarantee you that if something breaks it would be more expensive to replace the broken part then have a profesional do it for you, or go to a profesional shop and have them look at it and just ask them if they can tell you how to take it off.  those cars ussually have like a little basket  that just pops out and then you can unscrew the speaker but then again i kinda need the year model to see if i can remember how its designed.

Good Luck.

Ed.

Answer
Hi Denis.

Its all my pleasure , i just hope it helps.

the speaker size (recomended) for that specific car its    6 1/2" and you are right they sell in pairs, so i dont know what to tell you on that one i guess might aswell just go ahead and replace both door speakers. and you can buy them at any car audio store, or even at walt-mart/best buy.

But to be honest with you , as far as the installation if i was you i would examine that speaker and if you cant fugure out how to take it off, i would just take it to an expert. im sorry i cant give u a step by step. i cant remember that specific year model , i dont even remember if ive done one of those cars there is just too many to remember them all. But i ussually learn as i go.
