Cadillac: rear suspension coolant warning, engine coolant, plastic jug

Question
Tom,

My 1998 deville drive like a dream, but when I have people in the back it scrapes like a lowrider. I have compared it next to other devilles in parking lots same ride height. I am wondering if the self leveling is messed up, if it that is messed up if I should goto a limo type set up in the back.

Also This morning my coolant light went on while I was driving, coolant temp reach 205, on the streets since I have non freeway commute.  What should my coolant temp be while driving on the street in heavy traffic condtions?

Answer
The most common fault is the HEIGHT SENSOR mounted just above the rear axle is very well known for failure.

Coolant temp in the newer cars will run as high as 220 degrees. They are designed that way to run hotter than the older cars that ran around 160,180,190 degrees.

Check your engine coolant overflow plastic jug to see if it needs anti-freeze added to it.

If you are mechanically inclined I can locate the pictures and directives for installation of a new height sensor.
