Chevrolet: 1992 Luminia Sedan is hard to stop, chevy silverado, luminia

Question
This car has all new brakes, rotors including new rear calipers. If you hold your foot on the brake petal and start the car the petal goes down. The emergency brak has been adjusted.
The car is real hard to stop. You can't apply enough pressure to engage the antilock brakes
Any ideas ?

Answer
hi
I have a 1999 chevy  silverado and i have the same type condition,  I was in a bind and i ended up going to minike brake shop and I no longer have the brake pedal going down etc. so the only thing that i can think of is that the pads in the car might not be the proper type as some call for metalic lined or ceramic lined pads and if the wrong type are used it will cause the stoping loss, and as far as the pedal going down a lil is just the vacume if it is going down a lot you have some other thing wrong. dont go to a small shop but if you do go to a brake place go to a specialist that deals in brakes as you can drive in and get them checked for free at most of those places. good luck
