Hi, i was just driving home from the store and heard a screaching noise from what sounded like my front drivers brake caliper, when i took the tire off i noticed that there was a lot of play side to side with the tire, would this just be the tie rod end worn out or could it be something all together.

Answer -
If you have play in it,it could be that or a bad bearing.

Answer
Greg,
If it is a bearing it can lock up if it is really bad.If it has a lot of play in it let them check the whole front end.Disk brakes can cause a screaching sound if they wear down to where the wear indicator is rubbing against the rotor which sounds to me like it could be that, but if it has that much play unless something has broken then i'm thinking a bearing is worn out.Sorry it took me a while to respond been out for a while. If you need me hollar!
