Question
I came home the other day and as I turned my car off I saw a "flash" of light as the lights went out, as I tried to restart the carthere was no power-nothing lit up and the car made no sound as I tried to start it-I tried again and 1/2 the lights came on and it seemed to have some power so I waitede, then tried again and everything lit up and it did start however, the brights won't come on at all and there were 2 flashing lights on the "temperature panel" where you press the buttons to have rear heat, wipers etc...these lights stayed on and the car seemed to drive ok except for the "flashing lights" the next day. I drove the car on a 30 min drive and on returning I noticed the odometer and gear lights mildly flickering, then within minutes the battery light and the ABS light came on at the same time. The brake pads do need to be changed, but why the flicker and the battery light I can't figure-I got home (thank god) and turned off the car-upon trying to restart it-again, no lights or power--tried a second time and it started back up with the battery light, ABS light and 2 flashing rear wiper or whatever lights , What are my options? If I take it to the dealer will a computer detect the prob-and is there a way to find out if maybe I initally blew a fuse on the brites? HELP!

Answer
Shannon,
You more than likely have a dead battery,If it blew a fuse the lights wouldn't work.If the engine light is on i would hook it to a computer to diagnose the problem. It's really hard to say due to all the electronics now on the newer cars. But i would start by replacing the battery depending on how old it is.
