Dodge: Head Gasket, blown head gasket, dodge ram 1500

Question
I was running the Truck myself, was not running Hot. When I pull in my driveway steam came out of my truck also with Anti-Freeze. I pull the dipstick and no water in there just oil. I've had to have the water pump replace 3 x in the last 4 months. The water pump is lasting only 4 months out of the year. I travel a lot with my work. The truck does not run hot, but is leaking anti-freeze from somewhere.
Thanks for your time

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck. I think I might have a blown head gasket. How to Tell? and What are the prices on fixing it
Answer -
Peggy,
Why do you think the head gasket is blown?Did someone run the truck hot?And if so how far did they drive it when they realized it was hot?You can tell by pulling the dipstick out of the oil and checking to see if you have water in the oil.And the price really depends on who does it,and also depends on if the heads are warped. If the heads are warped it can very easily run up into the dollars...Your beat bet is to call around and check for pricing. Thanks RamMan

Answer
Have you checked the radiator and cap to make sure it is not leaking? My tahoe had a coolant leak and i could not find it anywhere,i had to remove the fan shroud to find the leak.Having to replace a water pump 3 times in 4 months is very unusual.Which they can go bad.Who is doing the work on the truck? And is the water pump failing due to a leak somewhere on the water pump?I have a 96 dodge ram 1500 and had to replace the plenum gasket due to it using too much oil. This would be something to check, but you have to use a vacuum guage to pull a vacuum on the intake to tell if it needs changing.I have a Haynes manual if you want to check it i will give you instructions on how to do it.Also you can have antifreeze leaking into the intake without even noticing it,and very small traces of coolant in the crankcase will eat away at the main bearings.
