Ford: Transmission of 1994 Mercury Tracer, mercury tracer, 1994 mercury tracer

Question
Dear Sir,

I have a 1994 Mercury Tracer that I need to check the transmission fluid of. Could you please advise on what type of transmission fluid to use, should the transmission fluid be hot to check? do I add the fluid all at once or a bit at a time allowing to warm up before I check it, and where is the portal for the transmission fluid?

Thank You for your time,
Polly

Answer
Hello.

The dipstick for checking is to the rear of the engine (near the firewall). the engine should be warm and running when it is checked.

It is full when the fluid is between the dimples or in the cross hatched area.

If the fluid is low, add about 1/2 liter at a time and check again.

It uses Mercon type fluid.
