Ford: door will not shut or lock in place, screwdriver, rap

Question
My driver side door on my F150 truck will not shut or lock in place.  What can I do?  It just bounces back when I close it.

Answer
Silvia, what you need to do is look at the part where the door catches on the truck.  There is a "jaw" on the door that catches a post on the truck.  Make sure that this jaw is open so that when you close the door, it will lock.  You may need to use a screwdriver to pry it backwards.  I hope this helps,   Jason

p.s. there should be a piece of rubber where the door strikes the truck.  If it has dry rotted and fell off, then you will need to replace it, or use electric tape and rap it around the metal post.
