Ford: 1991 Ford F150 Axle removal, axle shaft, disc brakes

Question
I'm not sure what size rear my truck has (truck has 5.0, E4OD trans and 2 wheel drive), but I lost the left rear wheel at 70 mph, and destroyed the backing plate and brake assemply. I only have a Haynes nabual, which doesn't address the rear for this particular vehicle. I'm sure that I have to remove the rear cover (alredy did) and remove a clip and or/shaft pin to remove the axle in order to replace the backing plate.

There's a clip that resembles a "W", but I don't know if that needs to be removed.

Thank you

Answer
Chuck no do not remove it . all you have to do is remove the 5/16 bolt remove the center pin, then if you have disc brakes remove the calp. and the rotor asm.if not just remove the drum and push in on the axle shaft then remove the c-clip and pull out the axle.
