Ford: 1991 Lincoln Continental Cartier Trunk( electronic close), lincoln continental, trunk pull down

We are using a relatives' lincoln while our car is in repair.  I opened and closed the trunk once, then went back to open and close again and the trunk would not close (the motorized mechanism didn't activate.  The latch is catching.  I can't open the trunk without using the key in the lock.  The latch is caught but trunk in up position.  I attempted several times to close even with the car running.

Bryan not to worry you just caught with the bad lock sensor it always happens to someone when thay don't own the car and these sensors go bad alot .you only can get them from the dealer but there only about $20.00 to $30.00 and its called the trunk pull down switch.
