I have a 1998 Lincoln Town Car that we left setting in the driveway (nose high) while we were gone over the week of Thanksgiving.  We had a lot of rain here that week and when we got back the carpet on the floor was incredibly wet, both sides, front and back.  The car windows were up, the seats were not wet, and the car doesn't have a history of this.  According to our nieghbors, it did not flood, and the water didn't get up in our driveway.  The water doesn't appear to be coming out of the vents, but I could not find the vent drain(s).  Is there a rubber seal or plug on the firewall that could cause this as water runs down the windshield?  Like I said, the carpet is equally wet on both sides, as well as front and back.

rmills does this vehicle have a moonroof?

No, this car does not have a moonroof.  There is a seal along the bottom of the windshield that is attached to the vent structure.  I found that it was not touching the windshield for about an 8" span in the middle and that it had about a 1" gap on the passenger side.  I don't know how important that seal is as it is not really a tight fit along most of the window.  Any hints for drying out the carpet short of taking it out of the car?

Answer
.no you are going to have to remove the seats and complete carpet if not mildew will build up and no matter how dry you get it will never dry completely  and the only way to dry it right is to put it in the sun and let the sun dry it . we done a lot of these from the flood jobs. good luck.
