GM-GMC: Starter?, diesel pickup, glow plugs

Question
Ok I have a 1984 6.2l diesel pickup and I just bought it 4 months ago. It runs like a champ, but just about a week or two ago I got in it and moved it around my shed so we could dig up a line for electrical. The next day i went to move it back and it started to crank but wouldnt start, so i hooked a battery charger to it and let it sit for the night. The next day i came out to try and start it, I turned my key to the first slot and let the glow plugs click on then off and turned it to the start position but nothing. Not even a click or anything. I dont know if the starter is shot or if the brushes need to be cleaned. Some help would be nice. Thanks. Justin

Answer
First thing to check is that there is power getting to the starter.  Use a test light and get underneith and check for power on the small S terminal when the key is in the start position.  The other larger terminal should have power at all times.  If you have power on both, give the starter a gentle tap with a hammer.  It may start it may not.  If it doesn't you will likely need a new starter motor.  If you don't have power at the appropriate terminals.  Start tracing wires to see if one is broken or corroded etc etc.  If you start tracing wires and can't come up with anything.  Repost and I will try to help you somemore.
Hope this helps.
