GM-GMC: tailgate, spray in bed liner, chevy silverado

Question
I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado that has a spray in bed liner, and the tailgate will not open.  When I lift the handle, the driver side releases but the passenger side does not.  I looked under the handle while it was lifted, and I saw that the rod on the passenger side has come off.  My question is how do I gain access to reattach the rod to the handle mechanism?  Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Answer
Their is a bezel that surrounds the tailgate handle.  If you carefully remove that bezel you may have sufficient room to install the handle.  If you don't, you will need to remove the handle assembly which you will need to remove some of the spray in liner to do so.  Try removing the bezel first, but be careful they can be tough to get off without breaking.
hope this helps
