Question
I have a 1995 GMC Z71, 4x4 automatic transmission,
the fluid got low and refilled, now when I put on reverse, it doen't do anything.  But it goes forward.  Is there anyhting I have to re-adjust? Please tell me step by step.
Thank you very much.

Answer
How does the transmission fluid smell when you check the level on the dipstick?

When the fluid level gets low, the remaining fluid will overheat and burn.  Adding new fluid sometimes "shocks" the transmission and it will not work properly.  You may have also damaged the reverse clutch linings.

The vehcile should be evaluated by a qualified transmission shop.  There are no external adjustments that can be made to correct the problem.
