GM-GMC: STALLING, gasoline engine, minites

Question
I BOUGHT A 96 CHEV S-10. IT HAS A 4.3 GASOLINE ENGINE. IT RUNS GREAT OTHER THAN BEING EASILY FLOODED. AFTER APPR. 20 MINITES OF DRIVING IT STALLS. IT THEN CONTINUES TO STALL EVERY FEW MINITES I HAVE TO SIT BY THE ROADSIDE FOR A FEW MINITES AND IT WILL START UP AGAIN.I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND IT WAS PUT ON A COMPUTER WHICH SAID IT NEEDED AN 02 SENSOR. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE GAS TANK WAS BENT BADLY AND FELT THE GAS SLOSSED AND COULD NOT BE PUMPED OUT THE FUEL PUMP. HE REPLACED THE SENSOR, FUEL FILTER, AND GAS TANK AND SOCK FILTER. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WHICH HAD BEEN ON WENT OFF. I DROVE IT THE 35 MILES HOME WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY I DROVE TO THE STORE 8 MILES FINE. THEN IT STALLED 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE AND THEN WENT OFF. ALL THE GAUGES INDICATE NO PROBLEM. CAN YOU HELP ME?

Answer
Is it flooding or starving for fuel?

I think that your problem is either an ingnition module that gets hot and quits working or a fuel pump that quits periodically.

The gauges on your truck will tell you nothing about this kind of problem, except for the "Service Engine" light.  When it comes on, the computer may have stored a diagnostic trouble code that can be read to help identify the repairs required.

When the vehicles stalls, it will be necessary to determine if there is too much fuel or not enough fuel.  You may need to leave the vehicle with a mechanic so that it can be driven to the point of failure and then diagnosed.
