GM-GMC: lights, low beams, terminal ends

Question
I noticed my headlights were dim so i bought the high and low beams for my 1997 Cavalier.  I replaced all four bulbs, however, the left lamp is dim and the right is not. The yellow light on my dashboard flashes now when the daytime lights are on.... do you know waht the problem could be?

Answer
Dim lights are generally cause by poor grounding or poor contact with their connector.

Recheck the bulb installation first to be certain that you installed the connector properly.

Unfortunately, trying to trace out the ground wire for your dim light is likely to be difficult as it is probably inside a wiring harness.

You might check the area around the headlight for a ground tie point.  These are hex-headed screws with one (or usually more) black wires that are being grounded to the body, frame, or engine.  If you find such a ground point, remove the screw and try cleaning the terminal ends and the point where the wires touch the body, frame, or engine.  Reinstall the screw and tighten it down firmly, but not excessively.
