Honda: Honda Noise in engine compartment, decent shape, torque converter

In response to your answer from my earlier question. The car has an automatic transmission. All the tie rod end appear to be fine. After more research it appears to make the noise even in neutral. But in order to get it to make the noise in neutral you have to hit the gas really hard and fast and let off. Another mechanic I talked to said it almost sounded as if it were vacuum related issue due to the fact it makes the noise when the engine is put under a load(or under hard accelaration in neutral). The clanking started a about 5000miles ago. But it is getting increasingly louder. The trans replacement was 20,000 miles ago. Im gonna double check and make sure the engine mounts and transmission bolts are all tight. But this issue seems to have all of my mechanic friends stumped. Below is my original question.......Hi. I have a 2000 honda accord SE with 98k. I keep hearing a noise from the engine compartment when i get on or off the gas. It almost sounds like an engine mount. You hear clank when I get on the gas n clank when I let off(not immediately, but almost sounds like when the torque converter disengages).My mechanic checked the mounts n said they looked fine(rubber was still in tact and in decent shape). I dont know what else to check. I had the trans replaced due to failure at 78k under honda warranty. Not sure if that helps or not with solving the issue.

Your mechanics have the luxury of witnessing this problem that you describe that I certainly can't, they have way too many cues to be able to deduce what can possibly be wrong by miles compared to me trying to make an educated guess from an e-mail.

The difficult task for any mechanic such as myself and your mechanics is the fact that, though we may suspect it to be the transmission, the amount of time we have to put in to diagnose your problem requires the possible disassembly of the engine and the transmission to inspect work done previously. form what I have gathered from all your descriptions to date, I honestly assume that something was missed from the transmission swap.

Please understand that I am not talking my way out of diagnosing your problem, but do understand that I am not physically there to witness the problem.
