Honda: Honda, fuel injector cleaner, tire air pressure

Question
I have a 1993 Honda Prelude 2.2si Japanese import. The car has been sitting off the road for 2 years (there was nothing wrong with it I had access to another vehicle). I want to put it back on the road and would like to know what precautions I should take before and after starting it. I appreciate any advice you can give me. I have asked questions before and the advice was right (thanks for that)
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Answer
Well Kathleen, one concern would be the fact that the top of the engine (inside) would be pretty dry (oil dribbled down back to the oil pan)- but just know that all fluids including oil, transmission oil, coolant and other fluids haven't circulated in a while. The battery might need a jump if not, a new battery may be necessary at this point since it hasn't been ran and might have drained dry.

I would perform a basic check of all fluid levels and make sure they are at their proper levels. I suggest an oil change at this point. Should be around 30-32 Psi.

I would suggest taking it easy on the car, start it up and let it idle for a good 15-30 minutes just to get things flowing. I would also suggest taking it easy on the first few miles, not over-revving, no quick accelerations for the first day. Starting a car is where most wear occurs until the oil has had a chance to coat cams, cylinders, guides etc.

The breaks may grind at the first few stops (due to rust on calipers) but should quite down after.

You can also expect squeaky suspension (struts not having been moved in a while) and some rubber joints may need a warm up. The steering may also feel quite different.

Speaking of steering, tires, make it a POINT to check tire air pressure, it should have dropped quite a bit at this point.

Also be aware of the fact that you have old gasoline(petrol) in the gas tank, it may make the car run weird or smell funny but otherwise, just top it off. I always suggest using B-12 Chemtool as a fuel injector cleaner(add to tank) to get the injectors cleaned.

That's all I can think of at this point, just think of it as a body that hasn't awaken in while, get the blood flowing good then give it a good workout.

Theres too many things to mention but feel free to ask more if something comes up.

P.S. My first car was an 88 Yellow Honda Prelude, I miss that car:(
