Mercedes: 1986 Mercedes 300E, scotch brite pad, copper tip

Question
Rear electric windows don't work. There is no power at the child safety switch even when the window switchs are engaged. Can you tell me where I can find the quick disconnect X48i?

Thanks!

Answer
Grahame,
Sorry I an not familiar with the disconnects. I would suggest checking all the fuses in the fuse box. The bullet type fuse are notorious for corrosion. That is particularly true of the aluminum strip/tip type.
I had some very 'funky stuff' happening with my 420. I removed ALL the ceramic bullet fuses, cleaned all the copper clips with Scotch Brite pad. 350 grit paper would also do the trick. And replaced with NEW copper tip fuses.
It solve many of my electrical issues.
After you have completed the fuse cleaning.
As a lark, you may want to turn off all accessories, lock all the doors with the key, and  remember which way to turn the key to lock.  Disconnect your battery cables (-) then (+) clean the terminals and battery post. Leave disconnected about 10 minutes. Reconnect the cables (+) first then (-) and tighten firmly.
Using you key and remembering which way to unlock the door, unlock the lock and allow the other locks to cycle before pulling the door handle.
This process should reset the computer, and may possibly help with your lock situation.
Good Luck
Rob
