Mercedes: radiator fan, ac condenser, radiator fan

Question
the radiator fan never cut off after car cut off. so i removed the fuse for the fan so it can stop draining my battery. but what do i do now replace fuse later or buy a constant control relay module?

Answer
Deandre,
It is not unusual for the fan to continue to run for a time after the vehicle is turned off to remove the additional heat absorbed by the coolant after the water pump stops. However after the coolant reaches below a set temperature the fan should stop. This time may be up to 20 minutes on a very hot day.
Having said that, if the fan Never turns of, then you have something wrong in the sensor circuit.
The block heat sensor may be defective. It should be located near the water inlet to the block, and have a wire or wires attached. It probably would be normally open and close when the temperature rises above 180 degrees or thereabouts. An Ohm meter would tell you if it is open when cool.
Or there may be a problem with the AC circuit because the radiator fan is designed to run continuously wile the AC is turned on, again, to remove additional heat that comes from the AC condenser.
Hope these suggestions help.
