Mercedes: Mercedes Stuck in low gear, mercedes e 320, independent transmission company

Question
Hi. I just purchased a remanned tranny and had it shipped to a independent transmission company to be installed. The car is a 99 Mercedes E-320 with a 'Sealed for Life' Transmission. They called me today and told me the car would not come out of low gear. It will drive, just not shift. I'm wondering if the transmission place put the fluid in correctly or if they put enough fluid in. What do you think?

Answer
I would call the transmission company and ask their advice. It may be a servo connected to the computer that is keeping it from shifting. If the control lever is not able to move it into low range and second, there may be a shift cable binding that is keeping it held in low. If it is 'sealed for life' I would expect that it should have been shipped with the proper fluid, and seald that way.
I know Mercedes uses a special fluid for their vehicles. Whether it is just standard fluid repackaged for a higher price, I do not know.
