Do I understand that you had to remove the original ignition cylinder and replace it. If so, how did you match the key to the cylinder, and how did you match the replacement cylinder to the original switch?

The key and cylinder tumblers are separated from the electrical switch no the back of the lock. By inserting the key in the tumbler you are permitted to rotate the cylinder. There is a physical stem that stick into the electrical switch. It appears that the new cylinder may not be engaging the switch.
If you can again remove the cylinder you should be able to stick a screw drive into the switch and turn the disk to start the car.
Inspect your replacement cylinder for differences in the original cylinder.
Good Luck
