Mercedes: fuse question, smoke front, little smoke

Question
hni ive narrowed down my problem to a fuel problem,to an ealier question about my 1993 mercedes 300 that wouldnt start, there isnot any gas getting to what ever that plug is on the top side of the engine,is it possible there is a relay fuse out that would electrically turn on the fuel p ump?,,some kind of relay swith or fuse, ive searched and cant find one, could the filter be so plugged up that that could do it oris there any way to check the  fuel pump to see if it is even getting electricity? i know the gas isnt making it up to the engine just wondering what could prevent that beside the fuel pump thanks for thequick response

Answer
1993
300E 2.8
300E 3.2
300E 4-Matic
Which one do you have?

If you are referring to the injector wire harness, Mercedes had high fail rate on some engine wire harnesses, the only fix is to replace those units.
I can not access my TSB or recall data at the moment.
Contact your local dealer and ask, they will need the VIN# to look it up.

Running out of fuel = sucking the trash from bottom of tank = possible plugged filter.

Subject:  Mercedes 300 e problem
Question:  hi first id like to thank you for being available
i ran out of gas in my 1993 Mercedes 300 e,at first i didn't think i was out of gas, so i used some quick start misc car starter,i followed directions and sprayed 3 seconds in air cleaner, car almost started i sprayed again wouldn't start, sprayed third and final time went to start car heard a loud shotgun sound, little smoke front of car, went to get gas car started
noticed check engine light on car bucking and idling very bad,i always use 91 octane rated gas
the car smooths out when I am on freeway but at stop light or slow driving bucking and surging like I am revving the engine up,unfortunately I am on disability so funds are limited and don't want to get taken to cleaners for repairs, can you please offer some advice or tips to check on id appreciate it thanks hope to hear from you soon as weekend ever every thing is closed
Answer:  Starting fluid damaged engine or sensors.
You need a good local Mercedes specialty service garage to check it out.

Worst case; you lost a piston.

Best case; a sensor was damaged.

Stop driving the car, it may make the damage worse.
