Nissan: 1985 300zx non-turbo elec. trouble, battery cables, lamp replacement

Question
ok, i asked this yesterday, answer was battery cables and/or "fuses" next to pos. batt. post? by this, i guess is meant fusible links? car will start and run just fine, no trouble, then, for no reason i can see, NOTHING! NO elec. AT ALL! turn key, nothing, open door, dome light doesnt even come on! jump battery, it fires right up! why? fusible links next to batt. all seem good, except batt. link, wire is very hard, where the others are flexible. is this a problem, maybe? also, old alt. had a "T" style plug, for charge warning lamp, replacement alt. has elec. contacts side by side, or parallel to each other. manual says one is "S", the other is "L", but alt. does not identify which is which? contacted autolite, by phone and email, THEY couldnt tell me which is supposed to be 12v+ from batt., and which is 12v out to instrument cluster. can you help me with this? i have replaced the alt. 3 times since last nov! although i am getting quite good at it, it still is a pain in the as...oops, i mean, pain in the alt. i do not want to hook up these 2 wires backwards, and take a chance burning up the alt.

Answer
First you should use a Nissan alternator only or Denso. Brown with a white tracer on it is the warning circuit/ Solid white goes to the battery/ Black wire goes to ground/ On the back of the alternator s= white wire and L= brown with a white. Thats the grey connector that locks into the alternator which should have a white wire and the brown with a white in it.
