Oldsmobile/Buick: 2000 oldsmoblie alero, oldsmoblie alero, radiator hoses

Question
Just got everything that needed to be fixed under the hood fixed, but today outta nowhere my car just starts smoking,I pulled over and a guy helped me out he said I needed water(does the car smoke when it needs water?) Drive it About 15 miles home and on the way it was smoking. When I got home and cut it off looked under the hood and saw that it was cooling off like a soft drink would do. What does it sounds like?

Answer
Nikka,

There are quite few uncertainties within this question. You didn't mention what type of work was being performed on the car. Sounds to me as though one of the radiator hoses was removed, replaced and not reinstalled properly. That or one of the hoses has a hole in it causing the leak. The smoke was most likely hot radiator fluid spraying on the hot exhasust. I would immediately call your mechanic and have the problem addressed. If the smell is sweet and the liquid green than the radiator is to blame. Without a visual inspection it can be difficult to be one hundred percent certain. Radiator fluid is what helps to cool the engine. Driving a vehicle without radiator fluid/coolant can cause catastrophic problems to the engine.

Nikka, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
